tooth extraction

At Rose Dental tooth extraction is the last option for our dentists, as we will always try to look after your natural teeth and keep them in place.

At Rose Dental tooth extraction is the last option for our dentists, as we will always try to look after your natural teeth and keep them in place. However if an extraction is necessary it can improve and enhance your general dental health. By removing the affected tooth, we can then focus on your remaining healthy teeth and preserve them for as long as possible.

We have listed below the reasons where an extraction may be required:

  • A tooth has been broken or decayed beyond repair and is causing pain

  • Advanced periodontal disease where teeth are mobile, and gums are infected

  • Impacted wisdom teeth which are decayed or infected, causing pain and swelling

  • A tooth requiring repeated root canal treatment with a poor prognosis

  • Overcrowding of the teeth which require space to be straightened in Orthodontics

While we can perform most tooth extractions comfortably within our practice, in more complex cases, we may refer you to an oral surgeon who may offer intravenous sedation or relative analgesia.  In some cases, your dentist may recommend a general anaesthetic instead, especially where multiple extractions or surgery is required.
